Prepaid credit on their client account with you, topped up through the payment gateways you already run. Each order raises an invoice that is paid from that balance, so it all appears in your normal WHMCS billing and reporting.
A confirmed failure refunds the credit and cancels the order and invoice. An ambiguous result — a timeout, a dropped connection — holds the money instead, because those frequently mean the domain registered anyway. A daily job asks the registrar what actually happened and settles or refunds accordingly.

Two version numbers. The addon has its own version, shown on every admin page. The registrar module your resellers install is versioned separately, because it only changes when they need to reinstall.
Where a release affects that module, it is marked. Everything else takes effect the moment you upgrade, with nothing for your resellers to do.
